ICHS Partners With Camano Island Schoolhouse Foundation to Purchase and Restore the Historic 1905 Camano City Schoolhouse

Volunteers Moving the 170 year-old Snakelum Family Cedar Dugout Canoe, On Its Way to Restoration

ICHS is more than a museum. Our volunteers are actively involved in all aspects of our mission. Several dedicated folks are at our museum, volunteering in the Janet Enzmann Research Library and Archives. Others are involved building small brass armatures for our next exhibit. Some are working hard to raise funds and awareness, in hopes of purchasing and preserving a 1905 schoolhouse in their community. A countywide farm structure survey is underway, and when compiled, will help us better understand the importance of these many-times-overlooked pieces of our cultural landscape.

With the minimal amount of paid staff we are able to support, volunteers are the true backbone of the Island County Historical Society.  Whatever skill sets or levels of expertise you may or may not have, ICHS will very likely have something that’s right for you. Please consider joining our team!
